Best destinations for solo travel

Solo trips can be the perfect way to relax in peace, while also challenging yourself and learning new things about yourself! We highly recommend them! It can be scary to travel alone, but we are here to help. We will help you choose a destination where you feel comfortable, we will select hotels with excellent reviews and safety measures in place, help plan a schedule and offer general tips to make your trip more enjoyable. We always recommend starting with a walking tour of the new destination. And pre-booking a few activities that appeal to what you are passionate about.

The best destinations for solo travel are the places that you are excited about! Places where you won’t feel worried the whole time and will be able to enjoy yourself. Here are a few of our favorite destinations from personal experience:

  1. London - English is spoken, so that may make some travelers feel more comfortable. You can start with a walking tour to get a lay of the land and perhaps meet a few fellow solo travelers. There are countless museums to explore, so you can occupy your time if you are worried about being bored. If you are into performing arts, you can also see a show or two. There are numerous dining options and you may even chat with friendly locals while enjoying a pint.

  2. Rome - There is so much history to explore! You could spend days walking around visiting historical sites, and eating delicious food! I spent 8 days here while solo and truly felt relaxed. I wasn’t pressured to cram everything in, but was able to do everything at my own pace. Plus take a few naps!

  3. Santorini - While you may think of this as a romantic destination for couples, it is actually great for a solo traveler. It is colorful and quaint. You could spend time relaxing at a pool with a view, reading books in the shade, visiting cute cafes and even doing small group tours.

  4. Ireland - It is a relatively small country with a network of buses. You can book day trips to locations around the island so that you can see a lot, while in the comfort of a group. This is a great option for those who don’t want to eat every meal solo.

  5. Budapest - Here you will find several spas and spa hotels. This is a great option for those who want to combine a little history with a lot of relaxation. This is great for moms who want to get away for a bit!

  6. Amsterdam - Being totally honest, this was one of my least favorite destinations until we moved here! Now I love spending time solo in the city and have learned so many tips and tricks. It is very safe and we will plan a fun itinerary for you!

  7. Nashville, TN - This city is known for live music, so if that is your thing, you should consider treating to yourself to a weekend here. You will enjoy amazing food and can hop around between venues to listen to different acts. Going solo means you can come and go as you please, and listen to your own personal tastes. I lived here as a single girl in my 20s and have tons of tips for you!

  8. Andalucia, Spain - For those who want to visit a few cities that are close together and enjoy the spanish tradition of siestas! You can visit Sevilla, Malaga, Granada, Cordoba, etc. Here you will be able to eat delicious tapas and enjoy fresh wine.

  9. San Sebastian, Spain - For the foodies! If you want to enjoy Michelin star food, but don’t want to travel with picky eaters, this might be the spot for you. You can meander thru the streets trying pintxos or relax at the beach.

  10. Paris, France - A city filled with museums and parks. You could even spend a day hunting for the best croissants and onion soup! Treat yourself to a picnic and shopping. Enjoy a solo cruise on the Seine.

  11. Reyjkavik, Iceland - A beautiful and safe destination. I spent a few nights here before meeting up with a friend. You could also book a few group tours around the island if you want to get out and about without driving solo.
