Marrakech with a toddler
We visited Marrakech in January 2024 to get away from the rain and cold in Amsterdam. What a great decision! We were able to swim and relax in the sunshine for 4 days.
We stayed at the Fairmont Royal Palm Marrakech. It is located a bit outside the city, but we didn’t mind because they have plenty to do on the property. We stayed in the Junior Suite with Garden View (926 sq feet - HUGE!). The room was very comfortable. We had two bathrooms and the largest hotel closet we’ve ever had. We also had a terrace which opened out into a grassy area for kids to play.
We had delicious treats waiting on our room when we arrived, which was so helpful with a toddler. We were able to have a snack and then head to the pool. It was not too crowded so we were able to enjoy the space without disturbing anyone. We were able to order pizza to a table next to our pool chairs - super convenient! We took a break to refresh in our room then went to dinner onsite - Al Ain. They were so kind to our son and were excited to teach him about the food. He LOVED the live music! We also ordered a sharing platter that came to our table on fire - a nice touch with kids.
They offer a kids club for 3 year olds - which is actually quite rare. The club accepts children from 3-12. It is a large space and they offer daily activities including cooking classes. Meals are also provided.
On our second day we took advantage of the kids club and went to get massages (Far&Low clients can get free massages or other fun perks!). Then we enjoyed an al fresco lunch at the poolside restaurant in peace. When we picked up our son, he showed us a cute souvenir that he made while there. We ate dinner at the outdoor bar - delicious Asian bites! Watching the sunset and beautiful colors in the sky was magical.
On our third day we got up early to eat breakfast and get ready to visit the city. We had a taxi waiting for us to take us to the city. They do offer free shuttles as well - we just preferred to go earlier to beat the crowds. We hired a guide to show us around the Medina - highly recommend this with kids! (Learned this lesson years ago in Fez). We were also traveling with a stroller - which was very convenient! We had no issues getting around and was helpful to keep him contained in crowded areas or areas with lots of motorbikes. After a few hours of exploring and shopping, we took the free shuttle back to the hotel.
Upon arrival at the hotel, we took some time to rest and then walked over to the golf course. They offered us a kids golf club so he could practice on the putting green. They also served drinks and snacks. It was a great way to spend the evening. When then went back to the outdoor bar/terrace for more Asian bites.
On our last morning we enjoyed breakfast then took a taxi to the airport. We would love to return again! If this sounds interesting, reach out to us for more info!
