10 days in Switzerland - Summer
There is so much to do and see in Switzerland! While you can definitely combine Switzerland with other European countries, if you want to plan the ideal trip - we recommend spending at least 10 days in Switzerland. You could even fly into Geneva and out of Zurich (or vice versa) to maximize your trip.
Here is a common itinerary that we love - especially for someone’s first trip to Switzerland:
Day 1 - Land in Geneva. Spend the day enjoying the city.
Day 2 - Travel to Montreux area. Spend the afternoon visiting the city and perhaps taking a cruise to Chillon Castle.
Day 3 - Winery hiking in the Montreux area.
Day 4 - Head to Zermatt. Spend the afternoon hiking.
Day 5 - Full day in Zermatt.
Day 6 - Head to a mountain town like Interlaken, Spiez, Grindelwald, Adelboden, Murren, etc
Day 7 - Enjoy a mountain village.
Day 8 - Enjoy more time in a mountain village.
Day 9 - Head to Zurich in the morning. Spend the afternoon shopping, taking a boat cruise or relaxing along the lake.
Day 10 - Depart Zurich.
