Tip 1 - Pack efficiently and do not over pack. Make sure you can physically manage your suitcases, back packs, strollers, and anything else you might need (car seat, travel crib, etc). Ensure that all important documents are in your carry on bags.
Tip 2 - Plan how you will get to the airport and get your luggage checked in. Will you need to hire a transportation company or have family/friends help?
Tip 3 - Plan how you will arrive to your destination. Can you travel by public transportation? Does your hotel offer a transfer? Do you need to rent a car?
Tip 4 - Book seats on plane in advance. Select your ideal location on the plane. It might be easier to get a bassinet with a baby. Perhaps the very back of the plane with a loud toddler.
Tip 5 - Have a list of kid friendly restaurants near your accommodations. Research where grocery stores and pharmacies will be. Download Google maps so that you can access them offline (without phone service) before arriving.
Tip 6 - Bring lots of snacks!!!! Also pack a few new small toys for the flights. Make sure your technology is charged, but bring cords with you on to the plane.
Tip 7 - Purchase an eSIM so that you can use your phone while abroad.
Tip 8 - Be prepared for things to be a bit chaotic. Sleep schedules will change. Things will go wrong. But try to take deep breathes and go with the flow.
Tip 9 - Plan plenty of free time for kids to play. Make sure they have time each day to visit playgrounds, parks, kids spots, etc.
Tip 10 - Reach out for help! There are tons of resources who are happy to help.
