Long weekend in Malta

If you are looking for a quick getaway from mainland Europe - consider spending a long weekend in Malta. We spent 4 days in Malta in December and it was the perfect sunny getaway.

We were interested in visiting Malta after hearing from other friends. We wanted a break from rainy/cold Amsterdam and we were pleasantly surprised with Malta. We stayed at both the Intercontinental and the Hilton. The Intercontinental is a large property with a delicious breakfast and walkable to many dining options. The Hilton had a lovely indoor pool which we were able to use on the only rainy day we encountered.

We were able to dine outside along the water at Porticello in December! This lovely restaurant was recommended by our taxi driver and it did not disappoint. From here wee were able to take a ferry to Sliema and continue exploring.

There are many gorgeous destinations in Malta. It is a country made up of 3 islands. You could stay in Valletta exploring the old town and game of throne vibes. We also had clients who took a 2-day cruise along the coast on a private vessel and then spent 2 nights at Iniala Harbour House. For the more adventurous, you could rent a car and visit the other islands.

The food was delicious! Highly recommend ordering local specialties like fresh fish or pasta when possible.
